Beads of Courage

I this video watched one Sunday morning, and that got me started in lampworking - nothing to do with lamps, it is working at a torch to melt and create with glass. Making glass beads and donating them to the BOC program helps to give these young people with serious illness a small smile through some hard times during their treatment.

"Unicorn with Butterfly Wings"

The Dream Beads "portal" that opens at certain times, allows a child to request their dream bead... If I could have any bead, what would it be? - "A unicorn with butterfly wings" - I would be honored!

The Carry A Bead Program (shown at right) uses sets of small beads which are sold to people who carry those beads in honor of a child they will never meet. They carry the beads as they do something, normal or extraordinary, and then send a bead back to headquarters along with a note card explaining where they carried the bead, and other uplifting thoughts, or just good wishes for the child. They mean a lot to the children who receive them, knowing someone cares and wishes them well.
